David Lavoie is a graduate of Bob Jones University (BJU), class of 2004. Upon achieving a Bachelor’s in Engineering Science, David earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in Mathematics from BJU while teaching at the university as a graduate assistant. He then spent 12 years at Calvary Baptist Church Academy in Glen Burnie, Maryland, as a math, science, and Bible teacher, yearbook advisor, athletic director, and vice principal before God called him to become the administrator of Frederick Christian Academy (FCA) in 2018. He recently completed his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from BJU to fulfill FCA’s requirements for accreditation with the American Association of Christian Schools.
David’s personal philosophy of education mirrors FCA’s vision for its educational program: pursue excellence, develop Christlikeness. His vision is that FCA would not only help every student to achieve their academic potential, but that each student would also grow to love the Lord Jesus. Every year he rallies FCA around an annual central theme, such as For His Glory, Magnifying Christ, and Serving our Savior. This year’s theme is Strong. Brave. Fearless. Confident. and focuses on Joshua 1:9 - Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
